Osceola built a 20 point win over Palmer led by a 55 yard Studley TD run and a general ground game. Dinges passed and rushed for key plays with Kantor forcing a Palmer fumble setting up the first score. Osceola remains undefeated in the Goldenrod Conference and can claim sole title with a win Friday against Genoa.

1960 Nebraska Luther League Convention Held in Grand Island

The 1960 Nebraska Conference Luther League Convention met in Grand Island from October 27 to 29 with the theme Christ Calls For Christian Citizens. Attendees stayed at the Yancey Hotel and held sessions at Messiah Lutheran Church and the hotel. Loans require farm storage 30 days before sampling. fees 1c per bu (grain sorghums 2c). minimum fees 3.00 on farm loans and 1.50 on warehouse loans.

A W Lewis Dies After Lingering Illness at 79

A. W. Lewis known as Bert, 79, died early Wednesday after a lingering illness at Annie Jeffrey Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, four sons and a daughter. Funeral services set for 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Methodist Church with burial in Osceola Cemetery.

Fr Raphael Chonta Installed as New Pastor at St Vincent Ferrer

Fr Raphael Chonta was formally installed as the new pastor of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church. The ceremony occurred Wednesday evening at 7:30 with Very Rev Clement Green presiding. Chonta joined Lincoln Diocese in 1952 after early assignments including St Marys Cathedral and St Johns Plattsmouth.

A farmer near Stromsburg asks how Operation Bootstrap began as a Polk County pasture program. York County leaders promoted pasture and seed plantings in 1959 prompting local clubs to sponsor funding. The project, supported by Harold Klingman and Garey, grew to 51 cooperators by its first year. a November 18 banquet in Stromsburg features Dean Brown on turning pasture plantings into money.

Polk County Ladies Take Five Day Trip To Ozarks

Thirty three Polk County ladies returned from a five day bus trip sponsored by the Polk County Farm Bureau. They visited Abilene and Independence Kansas Missouri, with stops at the Eisenhower museum Truman Museum and the World Holocaust Church. The group met Senator Kennedy in Kansas City and toured the private plane Caroline. They also saw Marvel Cave Silver Dollar City and Shepherd of the Hills. A get together is planned November 26 at Polk Community Hall to view trip slides and movies. Center Bus Lines of Columbus provided the bus.
