Marine medic Tom Morgan wounded in Vietnam action

First Division Marine HM2 Hospitalman Tom Morgan was wounded in action in Vietnam with his platoon 18 miles southwest of DeNaugh on May 11. He was awarded the Purple Heart. before service he worked at Annie Jeffrey Hospital for several years.

Osceola resident Chris Dahmke receives the Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor Citation for ten years of Lions Club service. Other Nebraska honorees include Harold Beck, Leslie Beck of Clarks and Helen Fusby of Stromsburg, plus Rodney Johnson from Polk, a Viet Nam serviceman.

Osceola Defeats St Edward for Second Victory

Osceola baseball earned its second league win, 11 to 4 over St Edward on Sunday. St Edward took an early four runs as Osceola answered with 11. Bob Hegi hit a three RBI homer in the third with two on. Next week Osceola hosts Silver Creek at 8 15 p.m.

Clerk Dale Frizzell directs destruction of ballots from the November General Election. On May 15, ballots are loaded into a truck and burned at the city dump under supervision of Bill Wales and Hiding Dahlin, reducing them to charred remnants.

Administrative Board votes May 17 to install an air conditioning system in the Osceola United Methodist Church sanctuary. Work to start soon and be completed before hot weather.
