Robbery at Ray's Bowling Alley and Tavern
A break in at Ray's Bowling Alley and Tavern occurred early Friday through a shattered window. Thieves stole $35, 20 cartons of cigarettes, whiskey, a 12 gauge Marlin shotgun, and a rifle. Officers traced the items to a young man in Platte Center who was found at a local filling station near the Humphrey Democrat.

Miss Sarah Louise Foy Buried in California
Mrs. W. E. Snider learned Sunday of the death of her sister Miss Sarah Louise Foy at a San Jose hospital in California at age 82. Born in 1868 in Iowa she later lived near Osceola and farmed east of town. She joined First Presbyterian Church of San Jose at 17 and worked in its programs and in the Nature Study Club flower department. Funeral services were held May 23 at Darling Funeral Chapel in San Jose attended by Mrs. Snider’s daughter Mrs. Homer Hartson of Los Angeles.

Grover Cleveland Alexander, Hall of Fame baseball figure, visited Osceola Tuesday evening with Old Pete, Mrs Alexander, and his business manager. They dined at Corn Palace Cafe before heading to St Paul Nebraska for a celebration at his boyhood home. The visit marks his first Nebraska appearance this summer. The Osceola Camp Fire Girls held its first 1950 Council Fire on May 15 at the Legion Hall. Lightning strikes Oscar Jones home near Osceola
A thunderstorm hit the Oscar Jones residence west of Osceola on Thursday night. Lightning pierced the chimney, tore a roof hole, blew wiring and light fixtures, and started attic flames later extinguished by the family. Three boys escaped with minor burn injuries as boards and plaster were blown away. The family spent the night at the Ed Magnusen home.

Polk Youth Killed In Car Accident
Roy Blender aged 20, youngest son of Mr and Mrs Wm Blender, died after a car crash on highway 66 west of Polk while returning from Central City. The car overturned and pinned him. Clifford Quick and a son-in-law freed him, a doctor and Stromsburg hospital staff tried to save him but he died at 4 am. Survived by parents two brothers Bill and Everett and two sisters Mrs Francis Dor mus and Mrs Arthur Worth.
