Osceola High School to graduate 50 seniors at 84th commencement
Osceola High School awards diplomas to 50 seniors at the 84th commencement. Five graduates share great grandparents, making them second cousins: Douglas Augustine, Daryl and Doyle Nelson, Nancy Oquist, and Robin Walgren, descendants of Mr and Mrs Charles Walgreen. The community notes a busy period with Goodwill pickup day, Bicentennial kite contest, antique displays at Bush Drug, and Memorial Day observances. The trip included meals, Braille demonstrations, museum previews and a late-arriving return home.

Boden Named Scholar Athlete at South Dakota State University
Lynn Boden earned the first NCC Scholar-Athlete award for outstanding academics and football in the North Central Conference. He is among eight top student athletes recognized for academic and athletic achievement and leadership while within 12 credit hours of graduation. Boden, son of the Calmer Bodens, was voted NCC’s most valuable offensive lineman and will play in the All American game in June before joining the Detroit Lions for 1975 76. He majors in physical education with a 2.50 GPA.

Johnson Ready For State Track Meet In Omaha
Osceola athlete Steve Johnson headlines the 1975 Boys State Track Meet at Omaha Burke after finishing second in the 180 hurdle row with a 20.8 and placing sixth in the high jump. Teammates Greg Nahrstedt and Steve Peterson added points with pole vaults, Dave Herrmann shot put, Rich Hayes two miles and 880, and John Zelasney the mile.

Eighth Graders Promoted On Recognition Night
A class of 45 eighth graders was presented on Recognition Night with certificates marking their promotion to high school. Bernardine Nitsch won the History Award for highest history average. the event included a 6:30 dinner at Ryan Hill Country Club, a program, and a dance with music, solos, and a vocal trio.
