Osceola Honors Eighth Grade Graduates With Diplomas

A long list of eight grade graduates from Osceola will receive diplomas on Thursday May 26 in ceremonies. Districts 2 through 72 are represented by numerous students, including Willmetta Burritt Frances Johnson Paul Schmoker June Carter Nadine Croisant Edward Gem bica Gladys Cockson Mary Jean Anderson and many others from diverse districts.

Junior Senior Banquet Honors Seniors and Faculty at Rapp Hotel

The Juniors held a banquet for seniors and faculty at the Rapp Hotel on Friday night May 12 with ninety nine attendees. Colorful spring flowers streamers and May baskets on chair backs framed the table settings while a brief program of music jokes and foreign language talks showcased student talent. The event praised by both faculty and seniors as a gala affair and thanks extended to Miss Beckmeyer and the Juniors.

Grade Picnic for All City School Children

The grades from kindergarten through fifth grade will have a joint picnic at the city park tomorrow May 19. Families are invited and asked to meet at noon with their own sandwiches and dishes. Each child received a slip listing their lunch item. Menu includes escaloped ham and potatoes macaroni and cheese deviled eggs pickles jelly fruit salad cake and cookies.

Shelby residents hosted and visited relatives and friends from Lincoln Albion Ohio Iowa and Marshalltown over the weekend. Notables include Peter Gondringer of Steinauer and Mrs John Gondringer Sr visiting Shelby, Wesleyan student Margaret McKeag from Lincoln, and a May 12 baby girl born to Mr and Mrs Arthur Krebsbach weighing five pounds three and four tenths ounces.

Last Friday the grade pupils presented a Mothers Day program with gifts for mothers. Mrs W Hennings hosted dinner Thursday with guests from Marion Indiana. Rivoli Theatre to Install New Sound Equipment

Rivoli Theatre in Osceola will install the latest sound on film amplifiers and a large beaded sound screen next week to modernize its audio. The upgrade requires closing on Tuesday and Wednesday for engineers Maurice Irland Johnnie Irland and Rex Oberg to complete the changeover. After testing the system the venue will resume a three day run starting Thursday May 25 with the musical comedy 42nd Street directed by manager Frank Klein.

The Chapel Missionary Society observed Mother Day at Mrs A J Herrmann's home and met at the church Tuesday. Families provided numbers for a program. The Garden Club gathered Tuesday evening at Dr C L LeMar’s home to view lily pools rock garden rose beds and blooming flowers. Junior project discussed with plans to involve children through seeds plants and fostering care while judging gardens. Tragic Death Of Osceola Man In Kansas Crash

Leonard Maurice Ransom formerly of Osceola died after a semi trailer ran over him near Concordia Kansas on a Friday night. He was 23 years old and had been operating his own trucking business between Kansas and Nebraska. Funeral services were held at the Osceola Methodist Church with burial in Hoffer cemetery.
