Osceola Garden Club tour and iris show plans

The Osceola Garden Club met at Miss Bernice Brown's home with seven teen members. They toured Iris varieties at S. W. Calhoun and later held a business meeting at Brown farm east of town. Plans were made to attend the state Iris and Peony show in Lincoln and visit Saas Brothers gardens in Washington Nebraska. Miss Brown led a flower guessing contest.

Wesley Chapel reports Church Aid met at Mr and Mrs Morris Richards home Friday evening. Mothers Day observed by Chapel Missionary Society at Mrs Hugh Schmoker home. Prizes awarded for longest miles and longest service to parents. Local families attended Mother's Day breakfast and program in Shelby. District 40 picnic and school activities noted. Several visits and receptions listed as well as births and illnesses in the community.

Paul Wisely family dined with Clarence Meadley in Osceola. Neighborhood youth held a picnic supper in E E Finey grove along the Platte River. Dora Frizzell of Silver Creek visited Roy Frizzell and family for Mothers Day.

Silver wedding anniversary gathering in Fullerton area

Chevrolet Sees April Sales Break 100000 Milestone

Chevrolet reports April retail sales of 100046 units including Canadian exports and domestic deliveries up from 59193 in April 1933 and 96893 in March. First four months total 281033, a 52 percent rise from a year ago, aided by new 1934 knee action models.

Cooking School to Be Held in Osceola This Week

A cooking school will be held at the Nowa Nebraska Light and Power Co. office in Osceola on Thursday and Friday May 31 and June 1. Invitations are extended to homemakers by R A Graham district manager and C M Humphrey local superintendent. Miss Juanita Bruce will conduct the program focusing on cookery canning oven meals and summer menu shortcuts. Free recipes and a question and answer hour are features. The company has staged these schools for years with high praise.

Wallace Skinner returned home to Shelby after an appendectomy by Dr. Eklund at Osceola Hospital last week. A baby girl weighing 6 pounds was born to Dr. and Mrs. A. A. Wurtz on Monday May 14 at Osceola Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Harl Watts welcomed a son born Tuesday night May 15 at Osceola Hospital, weighing 7 pounds 14 ounces.
