Local residents report travel visits and homecomings across Stromsburg Grand Island Lincoln and Polk. Families such as Merritt Rickell and Pollack attend duties and events while others travel for illness visits and funerals. Preparations for Palmyra Albany graduation trips are planned with car caravans for May 25.
Ira Banta and family of Stromsburg spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dahle. Several residents traveled to Omaha and Lincoln for visits or enlistment in the navy. The Baptist church group held a meeting with moving pictures on India and 25 members shared current missionary events. Doris Burke celebrated a May 12 birthday with 16 friends and a candlelit two course lunch.
The University of Nebraska Department of Animal Husbandry recommends replacing damaged corn with cane if rain has destroyed corn stands. Cane matures quickly, provides a hardy, high yielding forage for stock, and can be replanted as late as July 1 depending on conditions.
The Morning service featured well attended Mother Day program and music. Endeavor event Sunday evening ranked among the year’s best. Centennial school closed Tuesday for teacher Miss Fenderson’s wedding trip to Colorado.
