The Polk County Fair board and amusements committee advance plans for September 13 to 16. County clubs will provide work and programs under Agent Kelly and Mrs. E. C. Mouden. A county music division and band concert are planned, with athletic events, pageant contracts, and 200 local participants in a Rogers Producing Company produced commemoration of county settlement.

Pioneer Woman Alice Harden Dies at 61
Alice Harden born December 2, 1865 near Springfield Urs died May 6, 1927 at Osceola Nebraska at age 61. She moved to Nebraska with her parents, lived near Seward and Ulysses, and for seven years resided with her sister Grace Stowe in Osceola. Affiliated with Christian Church, she leaves four brothers and two sisters. Funeral held at home then in Seward with interment in Freeward Cemetery.

High Prairie Plans Commencement and May Events
The eighth grade exams are set for May 12 and 13 at High Prairie. The first graduating class will hold commencement May 13 at 8 p.m. in the High Prairie auditorium with a program led by Polk Orchestra and Lloyd J. McMaster. Baccalaureate was May 8 at Swede Home Church with Rev A W Samuelson of Burdie, Kansas. The High Prairie baseball team defeated Pleasant Hill 14 to 13. A Junior-Senior reception occurred at Axel Fredrickson’s home with a full program and luncheon. A Riverside vs High Prairie track meet took place on the home field Friday.
