Track Performances Are Good But Scores Are Low
Osceola High School thrived in effort at two meets the Goldenrod Conference and Polk Invitational. Steve Johnson tied the school high jump record at 5 feet 10 inches and placed in multiple events while Greg Nahrstedt and John Zelasney earned points in field and distance events. Despite limited depth and a bus mishap, OHS finished eighth at the conference and had several qualifying marks at the Polk Invitational.

Midget Team Begins Practice This Week
The 1975 Midget baseball team starts Wednesday May practices under coach Eugene Sterup. Sponsored by American Legion the Little 8 League includes Shelby Benedict Gresham Ulysses Rising City Waco Osceola with games Sundays and Wednesdays beginning June 1 after Pony games. Eligible players are 15 before Aug 1 and not yet 18 after July 31.

Kucera, 440 Relay Set New Records at Goldenrod Meet
OHS girls track placed third at the Goldenrod Conference Meet in Central City on April 29. Vicki Kucera won shot put with 36 feet 4 inches, breaking school and conference marks. Jayne Nelson placed in sprints and led the 440 relay to a record 53.3 seconds, while the 880 relay finished sixth.

Peterson Trained as Wheat Appraiser in 1975 Disaster Program
Robert Peterson completed wheat appraiser training for the 1975 ASCS Disaster Program per Eugene Sterup. He serves as Polk County ASCS executive director and Osceola precinct committee member, with prior work as a grain inspector for the Polk County USGS office. He will train for corn and milo later to cover possible local disasters. Eight farms had wheat appraisals by May 1. farmers should report crops to avoid ineligibility if destroyed.

Golf notes open Ryan Hill league with 42 players
Thursday evening marked the start of the men s golf league at Ryan Hill. Gene Bartak won low handicap while Larry Johnson took second. Walter Rempe and Kyle Thomas tied for third low. Steve Darling Don Hayes Tom Perry and Neal Nekl followed in the standings.

Reservations and entries handled by local organizers. A Saturday night one car crash on a county road northwest of Osceola sent two teen girls to Annie Jeffrey Hospital with injuries.
