Obituary recalls Wilber M Johnston a prominent Osceola lawyer and former Polk County Attorney who died May 3 1937 at his home. Born May 14 1876 in Greene Iowa he edited the Polk County Republican and Osceola Record before devoting himself to law. He served in politics and was a lifelong Mason. He leaves a widow Grace Pheasant Johnston. Funeral services were held May 5 at the Osceola home with District Judge Harry D Landis delivering a eulogy and burial in Osceola cemetery beside his mother.

Scout Troop Enlarged With Two New Members

Penitentiary expert fails to open bank safe
A safe once owned by the Osceola Bank, now held by a Lincoln investment firm, resisted all efforts to be opened. An expert loaned from state penitentiary inmates attempted the safe's open but could not complete the task, though the upper chamber has been accessed and used while the lower chamber remains closed.

Mrs. Ogall Miller underwent an appendicitis operation at Shelby hospital Saturday and is recovering well. A family reunion at Art Buchholz’s north Shelby home honored his father’s fifty second birthday with thirty relatives present. A farewell reunion for Francis Woodhouse and son of Flowerfield was held at J. E. Bernt hall as they plan to move to California. Mrs. Ella Garner died of pneumonia aged seventy six at her son’s home near Stromsburg. Funeral services were held at an Old funeral home with burial in the local cemetery. Various relatives and neighbors attended from Shelby Ord Sutton Gresham Columbus and surrounding areas.

Miss Maxine Heimer and El mer Wollberg wed Wednesday April 28 at the Lutheran parsonage in Columbus in the presence of their parents. A wedding dinner followed at the bride’s parents home northwest of Shelby. The bride, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Heimer, wears a gray suit. After a wedding trip the couple will reside in Columbus where the groom works at Randall Oil Station.
