Two County Offices Open in Upcoming Primary Election
In Polk County the offices of County Judge and Commissioner of District 3 are to be filled. J. E. Steeple, acting County Judge since August 1958, is a long time Osceola retailer who retired from business that year and was named to the judge seat. Ellsworth Carlson, a Polk County farmer and World War II veteran, seeks the District 3 Commissioner post, appointed to an unexpired term and a University of Nebraska graduate with postgraduate Washington State work.

Earl Miley Receives Ten Year Service Pin
In December 1959 Earl Miley a Standard Oil bulk agent for the Omaha company received a ten year service pin. He and family moved from Norton Kansas to Osceola in 1945 and were named a selected company family in 1958. The Mileys participate in the Methodist church school and scout work. Miley has served as health and safety institutional representative for Sunrise District Boy Scouts for four years.

Edward Croisant, 68, of Stromsburg, died Monday at Annie Jeffrey Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Stromsburg Methodist Church with Rev. E. A. Kiel officiating. Burial followed in Stromsburg Cemetery. Survived by daughter Mrs. Lowell Hanson of Stromsburg.

Herrmann Rites Held for Henry G. Herrmann at Atascadero
Graveside services for Henry George Herrmann 82 were conducted in Atascadero district cemetery led by the Chapel of the Roses. He died Saturday at the Christian Home for the Aged in Artesia after a long illness. He had lived in Atascadero four years prior to entering the rest home in December. He was born June 14 1877 in Osceola Nebraska and had resided in California 39 years. He is survived by a daughter a grandson a great grandson two brothers three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews including Dor othy Brown reared by the family Walter Herrmann and Victor Herrmann.
