Miss Madge Moore led a program featuring piano and violin solos, readings by Mrs. R. J. Inness and Mrs. W. H. Clark, a vocal duet, a paper on Our Schools, and a grade school play How the Door Opened. The Osceola Garden Club met at Mrs. W. E. Snider's home for a general discussion on plants and flowers. Arrangements were made to restore the lot beside the Standard Oil Station as a flower garden this year. The next meeting will be at Dr. LeMar's home on May 16.

Mrs. Sarah W Nance widow of former governor Albinus Nance died in Pasadena California last Thursday Funeral services were held in California and the body brought to Lincoln Nebraska for interment in Wyuka Cemetery She was born White and married in 1875 and lived in Farragut Iowa Osceola and Lincoln during Governor Nances terms Her husband served two terms in the state legislature and died twenty years ago

Miss Marjorie Sturdevant returned after a three month Mediterranean cruise with brief visits in Ceria and Monte Carlo and Paris. She toured Greece Turkey Palestine Cairo and Glasgow London Westminster Abbey on Palm Sunday and arrived in Montreal April 21 after Easter at sea. She spent three days in Indianapolis with her sister Miss Louise Sturdevant State Journal.

Shelby residents report a busy period with hospitality events at the St Ann Sodality parish hall. The Bitter Service Station upgrades its gas tank and the Junior Senior banquet for Shelby High School’s twenty five senior class was held.

The Osceola Wiemans Club held its annual spring party May 3 at the Methodist Church parlors with about 80 attendees including county Federated Rural Club officers. Spring decor, a three course dinner, a program of readings and musical numbers featured Mrs. A. F. Nuquist and Mrs. W. F. Thompson among others.

Central City Native Carol Chenoweth Dies at 22
Carol Chenoweth died at 5 30 a m on April 25 after living as an invalid since 1927. She was born in Central City and worked at a sanitarium for tubercular patients near Philomath before illness. Funeral services were held and she was buried in Osceola. She is survived by her mother Grace Hosick, stepfather L T Hosick, a grandmother Ida Campbell, three uncles Elmer VanHoosen Harry VanHoosen Roy VanHoosen, two great uncles S A Snider W E Snider and an aunt Mrs Chester Baker.

The Deacons of the Baptist Church and their wives were entertained at Frank Fossburz home Friday evening. Virgil Blase, son of Mr and Mrs Lewis Blase, was cut severely on the face when he ran into a barb wire fence while playing games. Mrs Arthur Westland of Minnesota and Mr and Mrs Oliver Larson with children of Omaha visited the Simon Larson home over the weekend. Victor Ericson sustained two broken bones in his hat while working in the field last week. Mrs Georgia Sheets returned from a Grand Island hospital after a stay. Mrs D N Mills fractured her right arm Sunday evening by tripping over a wire at home. Cev Cohagan, 83, died at his daughter's Hastings home Monday afternoon. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church and burial at Arborville. Mrs Neil Sloan of Venango visited relatives last week. Chiff Branting had surgery for a ruptured appendix at York Hospital last week. Mrs Branting and Mr Ralph Branting accompanied him.
