Social Center School District No 37 observed its 60th anniversary with a Friday program featuring Doris Hanson’s committee, the Rhythm Band, and speeches by Verna Richards and Mrs. Alex Scott. A large noon feast, outdoor activities, photographs, and a roll call of 57 teachers highlighted the event with letters from former teachers and pupils.

Man Robbed In Broad Daylight Near Bedict
F. C. Craig a Lincoln casket salesman was held up and robbed of 26 dollars about three miles south of Bedict and a mile east of highway 81 shortly before noon Tuesday. Two armed men stopped his car and demanded the money then directed him to drive away. He followed them until Polk where he lost them.

The dry windy conditions threaten winter wheat early this spring prompting requests to shift killed winter acres to oats rye or barley. Women Use Forged Checks to Cash Small Amounts
Two female forgers victimized three county drug stores last week. They presented checks for 9.40 at Stromsburg stores and 11.60 at Thelen Drug Store in Shelby, all payable to Paul Nelson and signed by W. E. Pierson. Endorsements were not secured and the forgery was detected at Osceola's Minst National Bank after a Monday holiday delayed discovery. The suspects fled before capture.
