Walter Julius Swanson born January 26 1891 died March 12 1930 at age 39 in Swede Home area after heart trouble. Survived by two brothers Lawrence and Elmer and two sisters Hannah Carlson and Mabel Ossian. funeral at St Pauls Ev Lutheran Church with interment at Swede Home.

The West Side pool hall was robbed last Saturday night with about 150 dollars taken from the register. The Declamatory contest at Shelby High saw Trene Drum, Arjay Miller and Clara Green win top places. A baby boy arrived Tuesday to Mr and Mrs Alfred Kunel in Fuller ton. Various visits, travels, and small town movements fill the week as residents attend events, doctor visits, and family gatherings.

The Polk County W C T U held an institute Thursday at the Osceola Methodist Church parlors with congregational singing and scripture by Mrs. George Micore. Rev. Paul Melin spoke on prohibition themes from The Inside of Prohibition. Mrs. Alma Parker led quizzes and gave an eloquent talk titled A Ghost and His Shadow. A new Polk union with 11 members was organized Wednesday afternoon by Mrs. Parker.
