A reflective column from Shelby area notes slow days and good nights for sleep as winter winds down. Community briefs list residents traveling to Lincoln Omaha and Columbus for business and medical needs, plus local events and notices from Juncture to primary elections and upcoming Chaplin showings at the Gem.
The pastor will preach Sunday morning March 19 on The Un known God. In the evening Dr. Wilson Mills of Omaha state secretary for Unified Beneficence will preach. Mills is described as helpful and interesting and encouraged attendees to come and support him.
Mr and Mrs Wescoat left Beulah for the city yesterday taking possession of the former Marquis place on Gospel Ridge. About seventy five neighbors gathered to bid them farewell with feasting and good wishes, recalling their long respected service to the Beulah community and hoping for happiness, health, and prosperity in their new home.
In Stromsburg and surrounding areas residents and visitors moved about between York, Polk, Lincoln, Wahoo, Hastings, Osceola, Mead, and Linwood. People attended visits, family gatherings, and errands while several travelers sought medical and business services in Rochester, Omaha, and other nearby towns.
Good sized crowds attended both services last Sunday. If members attend regularly, pastors could urge nonmembers to worship, relieving crowded sanctuaries. A series of Sunday evening sermons begins next Sunday on The Young Man and His Mind Money Marriage and The Young Woman and Her Wardrobe Wedding. Music will accompany the themes.

Names include Adolph Nelson Stromsburg Tuesday passenger Le Grumblins David City visitor Mrs Walter LanBe r eon and Mrs R A Mills and daughter Omaha Tuesday, James Mickey Lincoln Tuesday, Betty and Hortense Inks Shelby Monday evening, and Mrs Reed visiting from York. Danielson Stromsburg Tuesday seeks treatment. T L Sims Burkett soldier home and visiting Shelby.
Sunday morning worship at the Presbyterian Church with a special song service. Evening service includes a sermon titled Is there a God. Theo J Asmus is the pastor. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Board of County Commissioners met with all members present. Tax protests were discussed including annulling Henry Zinnecker and Wm Hills poll taxes from earlier years. Refunds totaling 36.46 and 15.80 were ordered. several protests on 1872-1874 taxes allowed. Resignation of E. A. Swanson accepted. Swan Cederberg appointed road district overseer. Claims audited and paid from County General, Poor, and Draper funds. adjourned to March 21.

Osceola Bank is reported closed by the Banking Department on February 24 1916.
