Walter Andrew Carnine born December 22 1876 in Hackberry precinct near Osceola Nebraska died March 2 1943 at the farm home northwest of Osceola aged 66 years 2 months 10 days. Survived by his wife Flora Seward son Raymond Seward Carnine of Topeka Kansas daughter Gladys E Reckling of Comstock five grandchildren a sister and four brothers. Funeral services were held at the Osceola Methodist church Friday afternoon led by Rev R M Bailey.

Kunkel Pioneer of Polk County Dies at Osceola
David Henry Kunkel born 1854 near Newburg Pennsylvania reflected a frontier life. He settled in Nebraska in 1873, helped found School District 48, ran a drug business with brother Clark, later worked in insurance, married Anna Detweiler in 1879, and died in Omaha on March 4, 1943 after a lengthy family and civic career in Osceola and Polk County.
