Fathers and Sons Banquet Set at Osceola Church

The Osceola Community Club sponsors the fourth annual Fathers and Sons Banquet next Wednesday evening at the COACH HENRY F. SCHULTE Methodist Church parlors. Legion Auxiliary serves the meal and Coach Henry F. Schulte will give the principal address. Tickets available through Rev Collier at the parish house, phone 130. no tickets after Monday night.

Ford Model A motor debuts with 40 HP at 2200 RPM

Community Club Holds Biweekly Noon Luncheon at Densmore’s Cafe

Members of the Community Club gathered for their first biweekly noon luncheon at Densmore’s Cafe on Monday with around forty attendees. While no business was transacted, members enjoyed fellowship and the group plans future meetings and post-meal discussions on business matters and a band.

Bridge Teas and Breakfasts Highlight Social Weekend

Meadames Lloyd Timm and Raymond Kepner hosted a Bridge Tea for about 25 ladies at the Kepner country home with yellow and lavender decor. Miss Wilma Pike and Miss Eleanor Mills won prizes. Monday morning featured a Bridge Breakfast at Mrs. Kepner’s with eight tables and vase place cards. Mrs. J L Heald and Mrs. C M Humphrey took first and second prizes. The third tea in the series is set for this afternoon at Mrs. Kepner’s.

The Burrell Fox family moved into the Ed Grossnicklaus farm area from near Gresham. Many neighbors from Shelby Osceola and Duncan area were recorded visiting, hosting, or traveling to Lincoln for medical care. Illnesses include mumps tonsillitis and flu affecting several residents and school absence noted.

Quiet Wedding Unites Heckman and Schernikau at Wilbur

On March 17 in Wilbur Nebraska Miss Ruby Heckman of Osceola and Edward Schernikau of Clatonia wed in a quiet ceremony attended only by close relatives. The bride, daughter of A F and Mrs Heckman, is Osceola High School graduate of 1926. The groom, son of William Schernikau near Hallam, attended Doane College Crete. They will reside on a farm near Hallam.

New Hardware Store Opens To Crowds In Local Event

More than a thousand people attended the formal opening of Hotchkiss and Wells new store last Saturday. The event featured a public address system, music, sales talks, and demonstrations from wholesale suppliers. A corn kernel guessing contest with a rooster winner awarded Tudor Silverware to H. C. Brazee and multiple prizes to named participants.

Wesley Chapel Club Observes Local Achievement Day

About thirteen members and their husbands gathered at Mr. and Mrs A J Herrmanns on March 1 to observe the clubs local achievement day. Baskets filled and lunch served cafeteria style followed by an afternoon program including a spelling bee a reading by Mrs Grace Merrick and a talk by President Mrs Dawes. Home made candy concluded the event with the next meeting set for March 15 at Mrs Goldie Schmokers home.

August Johnson Succumbs to Heart Failure at 68 Near Stromsburg

August Johnson of the Buckley farm near Stromsburg died Tuesday afternoon from heart failure at age 68 after a long period of good health. A Swedish immigrant, he built a substantial farm near Stromsburg and taught as a progressive neighbor. He is survived by a widow, son Clarence, and daughters Mabel and Hazel. Funeral services were held today in Stromsburg with Rev. Frohman of the Mission church conducting.
