Horton T. McKeag 36 of York dies in a local hospital after injuries from a highway crash north of York. He left Osceola, was an automobile salesman, and is survived by a widow, two daughters, his parents, five brothers, and a sister. Funeral held at Green's Chapel with interment near Stromsburg.

Jens F. Nielson, longtime Polk County farmer near Silver Creek, died February 19 after months of illness at age 69. Born May 13, 1867 in Kolling Denmark he emigrated to Nebraska in 1886. He married Julia Peterson in 1896 and had five children, plus seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Silver Creek M E Church with burial at Silver Creek cemetery.

Survived by wife three daughters Eva Wehrman Higgensville Mo Lillian Mes Della Need Osceola a son Fred Osceola sister Mrs John Herrmann Phillips Nebr and brother Phil Wieseman. Funeral at Osceola Methodist Thursday March 4 with interment in Osceola Cemetery.

Shelby G. W. Ray came home Friday after several days in Omaha for a Lumbermen’s convention. Mrs. O. A. Watkins recovered enough from recent surgery at Shelby hospital to leave hospital and return home last Thursday. Miss Margaret Fillinger returned to Steinaur Nebraska after three weeks with Shelby relatives. Dr. W. E. Norden of Manning visited Shelby Saturday for business and friends. Miss Zack of Columbus visited Shelby Sunday at the Krumbach home. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Swan met their new granddaughter in Columbus Sunday. The baby, Elle Elaine, born to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Marlens at Good Samaritan hospital Saturday, Feb 27, weighed seven and one fourth pounds. Mrs. Martens formerly Miss Grace Swen. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schoen and Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Schoen with family from Platte Center visited Shelby Sunday at the Abis home. Mrs. Abis’ mother, Mrs. E Schoen, joined the Abis and Schoen families at Platte Center Sunday evening after a Texas Oklahoma trip.

Johnson Johnson married in Osceola this week
Elwyn A. Johnson and Miss Adelia Johnson were married last Wednesday in Osceola County Judge L M Merrick performing the ceremony. The bride and groom are both Johnson families with parents present. The couple will reside south of Polk on a farm.

Four Hurt as Car Hits Bank Near York
Four local youths were injured when a car veered off the road and struck an embankment at the end of a street near York. Lester Rhode of Hampton Anna Blase of Hordville Alvin Smith of Polk and Norma Smith of Polk were hurt, with Mr Smith in serious condition. The driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel.

She was born August 7 1855 in Shede Smaland Sweden arrived 1873 in the United States and later lived near Swede Ham Nebraska. She married Carl M Swanson December 31 1883 who died in 1289. Survived by daughter Mrs August Pehrson son Rudolph Swanson four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Burial in Swede Home cemetery after services at Swede Home Lutheran Church conducted by Pastor C A Sward.
