Osceola Bulldogs earn state berth with district wins

Osceola, led by coach Don Bartek, clinched a 22 1 season and advanced to the state tournament after three district victories. In a playoff, Don Augustin scored 21 as Osceola held off Norfolk Burns 64 45 after leading 59 39. Earlier they beat Fullerton 73 45 with Alan Gissler scoring 24.

Lions Club tenth anniversary party highlights weight loss jokes

Lions Club members and guests celebrated the club's tenth anniversary with humor about diets. Glen Krohn received slim pants as a gag while Gerhardt Ahrens and Archie Klein joke about shedding inches. Guests from Columbus and Sargent attended, and Alan Gissler thanked the Lions for a steak supper. Jim Eriksen presented a Nebraska grass lands film.

Collection drives clothing for Appalachia from Osceola school

Osceola elementary school will run a clothing collection March 6 to 11 led by Supt Virgil Bugbee. The nationwide Bundle Days Drive aims to collect over three million pounds of usable clothing and shoes for children and adults.
