The first Polk County prosecution under the new drunken driver law resulted in a $50 fine and costs for Frank Muzny of Oklahoma City. His Nebraska driving license was suspended 30 days.
Polk County records a six hour drought ending with heavy rain on Saturday night adding an inch and a half. No damage reported locally. Residents noted Loup River flooding farm lands near Columbus as Hy 81 north of the Platte River washed out and access roads closed.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Johnson hosted a Sunday gathering honoring the 54th wedding anniversary of his parents Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Johnson and celebrating the birthday anniversaries of their sons Richard and Robert. Attendees included multiple Johnson relatives and friends from Lincoln and nearby families.
Osceola lost 6-0 at Stromsburg after moving the game due to lighting. Early errors allowed two Stromsburg runs, then more bobbles added two more. Hafemeister gave up five safeties including a three bagger while Quick allowed three hits. Next game set for Stromsburg Thursday night.

The couple, daughter of Mr and Mrs Hugh Schmoker and son of Mr and Mrs Stanley D Long, will reside in Grand Island after a reception in the church basement.
