Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Osceola for Susan C. Whaley born March 4 1851 in Bath NY. She settled Polk County Nebraska in 1871 as the first white woman settler and served with Dr S O Whaley in early county medicine. Surviving relatives include daughter Mrs Lewis A Bridgland Salt Lake City Utah granddaughter Frances W Windham Omaha and brother-in-law M J H Whaley Lincoln.

Farmers Use Personal Accounts with Extension Service
Seventeen hundred fifty nine Nebraska farmers keep records of receipts and expenses with the Agricultural College extension service. Fourteen ninety four live in counties with agents and receive help from local extension men. The 1930 count is over three times four years prior and summaries are prepared without linking farmer names to books. Farmers value yearly records and the college analysis to learn where profits arise.

More than a thousand people from Polk and surrounding counties attended the pool opening in Osceola last Sunday. The pool reached capacity all day and new amusements proved popular with bathers. A band concert was canceled by a misunderstanding but is planned for next Sunday.
