Independence Day Booster Trip From Osceola
More than 150 people and about 28 automobiles left Osceola early today for a 115 mile booster trip promoting the county seat's Fourth of July celebration. The itinerary lists stops at Gresham Surprise Rising Shelby Duncan Silver Creek Clarks Polk Stromsburg and back to Osceola with a 15 minute program at each stop featuring a band, Legion octet, dancers, and announcer.

Obituary for Mrs Jacob Amacher and family ties
The death of Mrs Jacob Amacher occurred Saturday June 21 with funeral services at her home and the Valley M E church. Emma Katherine Bidlingmaier born July 6 1873 in Eppingen Germany came to America as a child. She married Julius Herrmann in 1894. he died five years later leaving two sons, the younger son died soon after. In 1901 she wed Jacob Amacher and they had two daughters and a son. another child was raised by them. She joined the Valley M E church in 1895 and was remembered as a devout mother and neighbor. Surviving: husband, children, sister Mrs Martha Geyer, sister Mrs Fred Foote, brother Reinhold Bidlingmaier, and relatives including two grandchildren and John Olson of Stromsburg. The obituary notes her long Christian service and community ties.

Jonas Sundberg died suddenly at his home after a brief pneumonia illness. A Stromsburg resident for twenty years, he came to Polk County in the 1870s and homesteaded northwest of Stromsburg. He built extensive land holdings. his sons live on the farms. He was active in the Swedish Mission Church and was buried in Stromsburg Cemetery after funeral services Sunday.

Roy A Dowers son of Samuel Dowers of Stromsburg was a former professional baseball player. The service in Stromsburg followed his June 20 funeral in Grand Island and was conducted by A W Lyons of the Eden Baptist. He died at 44 leaving a wife and no children after living several years with his family in Grand Island and returning to Nebraska from Wyoming.
