The three Osceola churches ran vacation schools from June 7 to 11 at the First United Methodist and St. Vincent Catholic sites, while St. Paul Lutheran held a two week session ending June 11. Cengas Appeals Gas Rate Increase Suspension
Cengas and other Northern Natural Gas customers succeed in suspending a proposed rate rise in Osceola until October 27, 1971, the maximum allowed under the Natural Gas Act. Northern Natural Gas sought a May 27 start with an $18.3 million annual impact. Cengas’ share is about $1.2 million. Local manager Chris Dahmke says the fight continues for fair rates and reliable supply.

Tree fund grows as donations pour in for Polk County grounds
Donations from many contributors have raised the Tree Fund for Polk County Recreation grounds to 698.50 with about 400 more needed to finish planting a tree, watering system, and hose purchases.
