Osceola Couple Weds at First Methodist Church

Wesley Loyde Kennedy son of Mrs. Elizabeth Kennedy and Miss Mary Ellen Wolford daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Wolford wed at Osceola First Methodist Church in a 8:00 p m ceremony performed by Rev H P Bollinger. Attendants were Rosslyn Kennedy and Donald Kennedy with Mrs Schuman at organ. After reception at groom’s home, couple to live in York Nebraska. Out of town guests include numerous Omaha the Wolfords Krzycki and Kennedy families.

Osceola defeated Silver Creek 11 to 8 in a Central Nebraska League afternoon game on the Silver Creek diamond. Hafemeister scored four runs and Anderson added two as Osceola led 8 to 7 in hits. Czapla pitched four and two thirds innings for Osceola. Next game vs Albion Friday June 16 featured visitor Grover Cleveland Alexander making a personal appearance.

Jimmie Krance Enlists in U S Army

Jimmie Krance, longtime Corn Palace Cafe owner here, enlisted in the U S Army and was ordered to report for active duty at Grand Island. He served in World War II overseas in the European Theatre and can return home each night as his wife and children stay locally.

Jay McDonald Named New Legion Commander at Osceola

Jay McDonald was elected Commander of the Wm. Wolfe Post of the American Legion in Osceola at the annual officers election. He succeeds Dr. C. R. Peterson. Robert L. Mills was elected first vice commander Calmer Herrmann second vice commander William Barry sergeant at arms Lowell Hanson adjutant Art McVeigh finance officer. The Executive Committee includes F. W. Schuman Everett Smith and John Craven with a House Committee of Ralph Deland Paul Walgreen and Irvin Gustafson.

Sunbeams 4 H Club Meets at Thompson Home

Eight members gathered at Carolyn Thompson's home Wednesday June 7 for the Sunbeam 4 H Club meeting. The group discussed Bread and Meat Planning while Nancy Johnson and Laura Monson demonstrated Rolls. Lunch followed. A district PMA meeting was held Thursday in Central City. Mr and Mrs Bill Norton moved to Osceola from Lincoln and work at the summer pool, residing in the Robert M Johnston home in south Osceola.
