Mid Nebraska golf circuit forms with six host clubs

The Columbus Telegram reports that six Nebraska clubs Schuyler Osceola Central City David City Fullerton and Columbus organized a Mid Nebraska golf circuit for a six meet team series this season. A. R. Miller of Wayside Club was elected secretary.

Doctor Returns Pills Instead of Neck Ties Scam

A doctor received a necktie bundle with a demand to remit 1. He sent pills valued at 2 as credit, the pills were returned, and he billed 2.50 for office fee. The necktie firm then struck his name from their sucker list.

Birthday greetings mark double milestone events

A birthday gathering celebrated P. J. Ahlgren’s 80th birthday and his grand daughter Svylvia Fredrickscen’s 9th birthday. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Fredricksim and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson and family, Mrs. Oscar Newman of Shenandoah, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Newman of York, and Axel Gustafson. A two course luncheon was served and everyone wished them many more happy birthdays.

Lovell Leaves Hastings for Summer in Lincoln

Miss Luella Lovell, a Hastings College student for a year, visited Osceola to spend time with her grandmother Mrs. L. G. Johnson. She departed Tuesday for Lincoln where she plans to spend the summer.

Death of Charles Deland Mourns Osceola Community

Charles Frederick DeLand born March 27 1886 in Osceola Nebraska died June 7 1927 at Lutheran Hospital York Nebraska at 3 30 PM aged 41 years 2 months 11 days. He married Clara Seig November 12 1917 and served as custodian of the County Jail. He joined Rising Star Lodge number 75 S O O F at age 21 and was active in the Local Encampment and Firemen. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 3 o clock from the Methodist Church with Odd Fellows in charge at the cemetery.

Longtime Stromsburg Resident John Anderson Dies at 78

John H. Anderson born January 10 1888 on a farm west of Stromsburg Nebraska lived near Stromsburg all his life. He married Ida Beck in 1913 and after her death wed Hellen Tolin in 1920. Survived by a son Donald Harvey two children Florence Marie and Floyd Henry, parents, siblings and in laws. Funeral June 7 at 2 p.m. Rev C A Sward officiating Interment Swede Home Cemetery.

Methodist Children's Day Services Plan Double Event

The church announces a two part Children’s Day next Sunday with a cradle roll service at 11 00 am and an eight o clock evening program by Sunday School children. A morning offering supports the student loan fund and a 945 am Sunday School session is planned plus a morning board meeting.

Twelve Confirmed at St Pauls Ev Lutheran Church

Last Sunday Pentecost class of twelve was confirmed after examination on doctrine and biblical history. They received the blessing and sang a class song before taking the Lord's Supper. Next Sunday Trinity Sunday services include Sunday School at 10 00 Swedish Morning Service at 11 00 and an illustrated lecture by Rev F W Wyman at 8 00 PM.

Happy Hour Society Meeting Notes and Summer Plans

The Happy Hour Society met Thursday afternoon June 2 at Millie Hutchison's home with 19 members and 7 visitors. Mrs Susan Graham led a program on Kitchen Motives That Help and Miss Thelma Frizzell read. Refreshments were served by the hostess with help from Mrs Towker and Mrs Koehler. The next gathering is set for June 16 with Mrs Lydia Weiseman and Mrs Maggie Weiseman as program leader. Arthur Herrmann, who has been at the State University, returned home Friday for the summer with his parents.
