Osceola Wins Court House Levy Support in Polk County

In Osceola on June 2 1916 H C Bheber chair of the Court House Committee filed with County Commissioners a petition with 1605 names to fund a county seat levy. The petition surpassed the 1392 required and the Commissioners accepted it promising the first levy. The letter urges Polk County voters to keep the court house in Osceola highlighting Osceola as center of population and geography while noting Stromsburg’s petition hurdles and required sixty percent support for a special election.
