Jean Ann Smith daughter of Mr and Mrs L M Smith of York graduated as salutatorian with a 943 average. She receives a 200 yearly scholarship to Lindenwood College in St Charles Mo where she will study next year. She played Liszt Etude in D Major and was vocal music accompanist at graduation. Active in music and journalism she was the first page editor and wrote Speak Up For Freedom in The Campus Crier which earned All American rating. Jean Ann attended Osceola kindergarden.

Lindblade Reunion Draws Fifty Relatives at Buckley Park
The Lindblade family held its annual reunion on Sunday May 30 at Buckley Park in Stromsburg with sixty six relatives in attendance. Guests traveling from Omaha Colorado and Kearney joined many locals as a picnic and lunch were served. The organizing committee included Mrs LaMont Sunderman Mrs Ralph Simpson and Mrs Clarence Johnson with next year’s coordinators Mrs Paul Jones and Mrs Floyd Spelts.

The Osceola Volunteer Fire Department elected annual officers at its last meeting. Lawrence Bowe was chosen president, Martin Roberts secretary, Mark Gustafson fire chief, Dale Lewis first assistant, Floyd Headlee second assistant, Ervin Gustafson third assistant. Early Day Aviator M R Cole Visits Osceola
Orlando aviator M R Cole visited Osceola to gather data on a Polk County Fair flight he made July 26, 1911. He piloted an old plane to about 50 feet before it could not be landed and landed on the roadway south of the fairgrounds. At the time only about 200 Americans had flown.

Mrs Gust Anderson 86 died June 1 at Emanuel Lutheran Hospital Omaha. Burial will be in Stromsburg Saturday with services at Stromsburg Baptist Church at 2:00 p m. She leaves Carl W Stromsburg John K Detroit Dewey and Levi Omaha Neva Elliott Minneapolis and Evelyn Anderson Los Angeles. She lived on a Stromsburg farm and in the city.

Hospital Plans Approved for Annie Jeffrey Memorial Center
The county commissioners and trustees unanimously approved revised schematic plans for the Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Hospital. Architect Davis and Wilson expect 30 to 90 days for specifications, with bids after, and actual construction possibly starting by late summer or fall, a one year project. Dr. Charles W. Jeffrey approved the plan set, and plans are viewable at the Record office.
