Minnesotan Dies Saving Daughter Near Osceola Fairgrounds
Stewart Db. Farmer, 29, Canton Minnesota, died after lifting his 4 year old daughter Lynne from a stalled car on railroad tracks west of Osceola fairgrounds. His wife escaped as a freight train struck the vehicle. Farmer, a school teacher, lost a leg previously and had the other mangled, amputated at St. Francis Hospital. He died shortly after midnight. The death marks the first on the new ten mile detour used during Highway 92 pavement work.
