Polk County Farmers Buy Steel Bins From Government
Sixteen Polk County farmers secured steel grain storage bins from Commodity Credits Corporation via three Iowa AAA offices. Seven buyers took 1350 bushel bins, nine bought 1630 bushel bins. Cost was seven cents per bushel of rated capacity plus dismantling and trucking. The bins previously housed corn in Iowa before delivery to Polk County farmers.

Escape Serious Injury In Auto Accident Near E Gabel Farm
Four Detroit residents Mrs Elfen and son Richard Mrs Lillian Bullock and Mrs Frances Dudley narrowly escaped serious injury when their 1942 Cadillac overturned after a tire blew out three miles east of town near the E Gabel farm. One woman suffered two broken ribs. others had cuts and bruises. They were taken to Shelby hospital for treatment and car repairs.

4-H Demonstration and Judging School Planned for Osceola
Plans are set for the annual 4-H Demonstra tion and Judging School at Osceola on July 28. The program begins at 9 a.m. with 4-H club teams presenting demonstrations and receiving guidance on technique and topics. In the afternoon a judging school will have girls evaluating clothing cooking home economics and canning while boys judge livestock on nearby farms with Zanike and Miss Jesse Green from the College of Agriculture assisting.

State Sheep Day Auction Set for August 7 at Lincoln
About 130 purebred rams and 50 purebred breeder ewes will be in the annual Sheep Day auction at the State Fairgrounds in Lincoln on Friday August 7. The event features South downs Hampshires Shropshires and Cheviots with talks on sheep and wool production and a sale starting at one o clock. Extension Agent Ray L Cruise notes the event is sponsored by the Nebraska sheep breeders association and the Nebraska Agricultural Extension Service to aid stock owners and provide desirable rams with minimal travel.
