Obituary of James F. Farris in Nebraska

James F Farris born August 10 1855 in Harlan County Ohio grew up in Iowa and moved to Shelby Nebraska at age 22. He married Phoebe Jane Bull on June 24 1879 and lived in Osceola Nebraska where he died July 10 at Hastings aged 74 years 11 months. He leaves a wife six children and a sister and was buried in Osceola cemetery after a Methodist church service led by Rev Han del Collier.

County Clerk John W Fillman met with State Tax Commissioner Scott in Lincoln to protest Polk County farm valuations he says are higher than adjacent counties. He cites York County comparisons showing farms north of the line valued about $18 more per acre than those just south.
