Eleven Polk County junior high 4-H members and agent Donald Sigler joined peers from Lancaster County at the Eastern Nebraska 4-H Center under construction north of the Gretna Fish Hatchery. The camp theme You and The World Around You guided seven study areas grasses and weeds trees and leaves geology conservation heritage river life and wildlife with activities like a microscopic hike scavenger hunt map reading blind-rope tour poetry writing and a tall tale contest.

Other new and returning officers include Arthur Senkbeil first vice president Myron Jones second vice president Alan Gless third vice president Henry Galus secretary treasurer Martin Jones tail twister and Bernie Gissler lion tamer. Chris Gaedeke welcomed as a new member. financial report showed a successful year. Current projects include a basketball court at the Methodist Church and moving Albert Ryan’s barber equipment to the Polk County Historical Society museum. The club has 22 active members with improved attendance and rising interest.
