A long list of local notices, visits, and business ads from Osceola Nebraska describes a big lot of ladies shoes and assorted odds and ends for sale, medical and dental visits, religious events, family news, and upcoming gatherings at G W Gregg's. The column notes revisions in local trades, travel to Omaha and Lincoln, and a hailstorm damaging Polk county crops.
John Spys faced United States commissioner Morle on a copper theft charge from the navy yard. Unable to spell or pronounce his name, he was described as hungry and worn, saying he thought the copper was rubbish at Cob dock. He was held for examination and remanded to jail as “say, Bill.”
Through tickets sold and baggage checked all points east from Osceola depot daily except Sunday. Trains going east include passenger at 7 10 am and 7 40 am with freights. westbound schedules list freight at 6 35 am and passenger at 9 03 pm, daily except Saturday.

Birth announced for Cotton and wife a daughter born July 11. Aunts Mrs J W McDonald visiting Osceola from Risings and Wahoo. Dr Byers and family visited Garrison last week then returned Monday. Mrs Dora Fleisbach from Des Moines arrived to visit sister Dr Shaw. J M Edmiston of Lincoln in Osceola this week for business and political fences.
The Bethel S.8 of Brown School House thanks friends for contributions toward a new organ. The organ is bought and paid for and satisfactory. Visitors are invited to come and hear it. Mrs Myra Crozten speaks for the Sunday school.
Company H troops planned to go to Omaha but were told by Capt. Beer and Passenger Agent Lomax not to issue more transportation as exposition managers cannot handle it. Accommodation for soldier boys will be very limited according to Stromsburg News.

The eight acre alfalfa field of Judge M A Mills near town yielded two and a half to three tons per acre on the second cutting taken a month after the first. A third cutting could bring seven to eight tons per acre, with seed harvest likely proving profitable at $600 per acre or more. The field has consistently paid well over the years.
The report argues the site remains upland with a hundred feet or more to water and counters claims that it would not perform well upland, challenging the prevailing narrative.
The mayor calls citizens to Etting's hall next Monday night to form committees raise funds and plan a grand homecoming for Company E and Butler county Spanish-American War veterans. The railroad highlights palace sleeping cars dining and library cars free reclining chair cars and attentive service via Omaha or Kansas City. Agent 37-45 R R Geneu offers tickets stopovers and an illustrated Overland Route book.
