Kirtley and husband to Joyselan Byers, undivided 1/4 interest in lots 1-10, block 2, Morningside Addition to Osceola.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schinzel of Stromsburg announce the birth of son Noel Joseph on July 2 weighing 7 pounds 2 ounces. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Ransom announce daughter Ronda Lea born July 8 in Colorado Springs weighing 5 pounds 8 ounces. Grandparents are Maurice Watts Sr and Mervin Ransom Sr.
Barbara Tucek and Freddie Nickles began as Area Home Extension agents for Butler Colfax Platte and Polk counties with Jane Munson joining September 1. The three will work from Columbus, coordinating 4 county Extension and University of Nebraska programs for adults and youth.

A proposed plan would give each willing municipality 3000 to start an ambulance or rescue unit with annual county aid up to 500. Only Shelby has an operating unit as of July 1 and funeral homes face higher prices under new federal rules.
The Polk County 1967 Cancer Crusade completed with total contributions of 2084.36 led by county co chairs Mrs. Kent Perry and Mrs. Perry N. Sapp. Local chairmen reported amounts from Osceola and Platte precincts and Island and Hackberry, with funds supporting research education and service projects.
