Nyquist handling tickets. Seventy cents of each dollar fund rehabilitation locally, while 30 cents support a national research commission.

Fire destroys Ellis White farm home near Polk
The York County farm home of Ellis White six miles south of Polk burned shortly before noon Tuesday. The cause was a gasoline motor explosion used for washing. A new piano bought last week was destroyed. Firefighters arrived too late to save the building or its contents. loss partially insured.

Polk County National Farm Loan Association elected directors for 1935 at the January 8 meeting in Osceola. Officers are E A Swanson president Martin Scholz vice president and L M Merrick secretary treasurer. In 1934 the group approved 104 land bank and commissioner loans totaling $438,200 for farmers in Polk York and Merrick counties. Loans mature in 13 to 36 years with semi annual payments. The association has 150 members who have loans from the Federal Land Bank of Omaha through the association.

Farm Account School Helps Farmers Track Costs
A farm account school will meet at the Osceola courthouse on Saturday January 26 at 2 pm to explain simple records for corn hog and wheat transactions and to help farmers compute profits and losses. The session is free with confidential one on one assistance and farmers may start free book keeping help a year from now. Ten Polk county farmers will receive help, and the venue will be posted at the courthouse entrance.
