Zeilinger Files For Re-election As Fifth Judicial District Judge
Judge John D. Zeilinger of York filed for re election on January 21 1960 to serve the Fifth Judicial District comprising Butler Hamilton Polk Saunders Seward and York counties. He was appointed by Governor Anderson in 1956 to replace Judge Landis and has prior service as York Police Judge and County Attorney. Born in David City Nebraska he studied at the University of Nebraska Law College and has two sons.
Judge H Emerson Kokjer seeks re election in Nebraska district
Judge H Emerson Kokjer, 61, of Wahoo filed for re election as district judge on Thursday January 2. The district includes Butler Hamilton Polk Saunders Seward and York counties. Kokjer was appointed April 18 1947 by Governor Peterson to succeed the late L S Hastings of David City and has been elected three times. In October 1959 he became president of the Nebraska District Court Judges Association. He previously served as Deputy Attorney General for eight years and practiced law in Wahoo as City Attorney for thirteen years and mayor for one term. He is a University of Nebraska College of Law graduate and served in the Army in France during World War I. He and Mrs Kokjer have two daughters and seven grandchildren.

Clifford Huddleston 66, longtime Shelby resident, died Thursday in Denver Colorado. Services were held January 19 at Wesley Methodist Church Shelby with Rev. George S Goodwin officiating. Burial followed at Shelby Cemetery. He was an uncle of Mrs Jack Johnston.

Railroad Crossing Accident Near Osceola Injures One
A car train collision at a crossing west of Osceola left Ron Carlson with a bruised ankle. The train’s snow plows struck the Carlson car as he and Gordon Olseen, returning from Wahoo Lutheran College, passed the crossing. The car was damaged. no serious injuries reported.

Former Stoner Resident Paul Holmes Dies in Polk
Paul Holmes, 62, of Polk, died suddenly Thursday while preparing the county maintenance he ran for service the next day. A Stoner resident earlier, he moved to Polk in 1946 and ran a cafe with his wife for 1.5 years. He worked for the County in recent years and is survived by his wife, two daughters and three sons. Funeral services were held Monday at Polk Methodist Church with Rev. James Lane officiating. Burial followed in Arborville Cemetery.

Snow Strikes State With Heavy Snow and School Closures
