Dividend Payments To Nebraska Bank Depositors Fall In 1933

More than two million dollars tied up in failed Nebraska state banks was returned to depositors last year. Payments totaled more than 100 thousand dollars each month as the state banking department sped cash into depositors' hands by dividends on liquidated assets as small as 3 and 4 per cent. The 1933 total dividends of 2,125,193 were about half of 1932’s 4,091,988. Two factors cut the total: many banks were farther along in liquidation so collections were slower, and large 1932 payments to Omaha and South Omaha State Bank depositors were not repeated.
