Osceola Legion Club hosts a successful Christmas party with a full turkey and ham meal prepared by legion members and local cafes. About 235 members and guests attended in three shifts, with auxiliary members as guests and social entertainment on the tower floor.

Record Mail Receipts at Osceola Post Office

Osceola post office reports the 1947 Christmas mail was the largest on record. During the peak week 25 220 cards and letters passed the cancelling machine an average of 3613 per day with a high of 4100 on Thursday December 18. Parcel post receipts indicate heavy parcel activity as well. Public mailed earlier but continued until Christmas Eve.

Former resident Mrs Guy Pearce dies in Nebraska

Former resident Mrs Guy Pearce died Saturday at her home in Litchfield Nebraska after illness. Funeral services were held there Tuesday afternoon and the remains brought to Osceola for Wednesday morning services at Kepner Funeral Home. Interment followed in Osceola cemetery. She was the daughter of the late William McBeth of this vicinity.

Arthur Nelson aged 26, farmer from north of Gresham, died Sunday at York hospital from a fractured skull after a gravel truck struck his cab Saturday on Highway 34 south of Gresham. He and his father were returning from York. the elder Nelson suffered minor injuries and is listed as not serious. He leaves a wife and two children among many mourners.
