County Conservation Practices Selected for 1976 Plan
Polk County ACP development group met February 10 to map the 1976 conservation cost sharing program. Attendees from ASCS SCS Extension Service State Forest Service NRD and local contractors discussed problems soil erosion overgrazed pastures groundwater depletion and wildlife habitat loss. Proposed cost sharing covers dams terraces feed lot runoff control waterways diversions grass seedings irrigation reuse pits and wildlife habitat development. Long term 3 to 10 year agreements will cover all needed conservation work and assure cost sharing upon completion.

Bulldogs Fall To Beavers In Season Finale
St. Edward defeated Osceola 65-57 on Friday at home as the Beavers built a 13- last quarter lead and held off a late OHS push. Reggie Mentink led rebounding with 10, John Zelasney had 17 points and eight assists, while OHS shot 39 percent and made 61 percent at the line. The junior varsity also beat St Edward reserves 51-42 to close their season.
