Plans outline a twenty hour Red Cross First Aid course to be organized next week or ten days. Dr W Ray Hill and Dr H S Eklund will supervise with Dora Fisher and Lula Olson assisting. Registration via Mrs W W Norton.
Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Atkinson and Mrs. Leonard Thompson visited the Harry Blevins home near Shelby Sunday afternoon, also visiting Leonard Thompson’s parents. F. and Carl Borgstrom, Omaha bomber plant workers, stayed Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Anderson and returned to Omaha that evening. Lewis Albrecht Jr. of Cortland, a Doane College student, spent the weekend with Wendell and Walter French. Tillie Rinterman joined Mrs. Elmer Richters for a Beauty Convention in Omaha Sunday. Mrs. Benham and daughter Helen of Albion visited L. H. Headstrom. Margaret Ann Ludden returned to North Platte after weeks with her grandmother Mrs. A. B. Lind. The Morrill households returned from two weeks in Tucson and Las Vegas with Elmer Schulz in the army and visits to Mrs. Schulz’s son and to E. R. De Lashmutt in Las Vegas.
Harold Mace, recently in Omaha, spent days with grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Mace and expects to be drafted soon. Warren Hastings has been ill three weeks. Norris family attended a reception for newlyweds in St Liobrara. Mrs. Floyd Morris and infant son visited Chalmer Daniel’s home. Janice returned with her mother. Margaret Hayes of Omaha visited ill family. Aid met at the Hall with a planned chicken supper. Rev. and Mrs. Hamilton traveled to Hastings then Kansas to assist an aged uncle and aunt. George and Mina Buchta were hosted for dinner at C L Dake home.
Wesley Chapel notes the Mauritz Swanson family moved from the Westberg farm to the McBeth farm last week. School District 40 welcomes the three Swanson boys. Elaine Treadway visited with her parents and returns to schooling near Omaha. Alvin Weeden and Earl Treadway families are among local travelers and relatives in Polk County. Mrs Brandt under doctor care. Charles Fischer finished welding course in Omaha and traveled to California. Beatrice visitors Dr and Mrs Densbier visited John Huggler home. Mrs Gabel and Mrs Alt were hospital guests this past week.
A program featuring the high school band and chorus will be at The Muse Theatre on Wednesday evening March 4 starting at eight o'clock. Admission 11 and 22 cents incl tax.
Polk County Extension Office urges farmers to file for Clarke-M-McNary seedlings as planting season nears. Extension Agent Ray L. Cruise reports 8700 trees have been applied for so far, with interest higher than last year. Apply soon to secure desired varieties.
Preliminary surveys by Lincoln Telephone indicate vast equipment needs for the Wahoo bomb loading plant. An eight position administrative switchboard will be installed in a fireproof building, with government supplied operators.
