St. John Zang of Beatrice formerly Osceola joined the army in March 1936 and served overseas in China for a year and three years in Alaska. He graduated from Officers Candidate School at Ft. Knox on July 4 with a commission as 2nd Lt. He was sent overseas in December and is a 1932 Osceola high school graduate. Mrs George F Anderson Dies at 67 in Hackberry Area
Mrs George F Anderson a Hackberry pioneer died Monday at her home southeast of Osceola after a weeklong illness following a severe stroke. She was 67 and survived by her husband two children daughter Mrs John Skogman of Omaha and son Bruce Anderson. Funeral services are today at the Anderson Funeral Home in Stromsburg with burial in Stromsburg Cemetery.

Farmers Short Course Draws 150 At Stromsburg
150 attend the second annual Farmers Short Course meeting in Stromsburg on February 22 sponsored by Polk County Ex tension Service and Stromsburg Commercial Club.
