County Recreation School to Be Held in Polk County
Polk county organizations may send one or two members to the annual county recreation school on Monday February 22 at Osceola High School starting 10:00 a.m. Ralph Copenhaver extension recreation specialist will lead the program. The farm bureau office notes no fees and invites schools churches lodges clubs and associations to enroll. This year the course will be one day instead of two.

William S. Austin born January 24 1864 in Woodstock Illinois died February 9 1937 at his Omaha home. He moved to Nebraska in 1885 married Addie Dunning June 28 1888 and had two daughters Jamita M. Austin of Omaha and Erma Hall of Guernsey Town. Funeral services were held Thursday at Kepner Funeral Home with Rev. W D Hamilton officiating. Interment in Osceola cemetery.

Funeral services were held at the Swedish Lutheran Church for Mrs. Chas. F. Johnson 58 who died at her Stromsburg home after several weeks of illness. She lived on a farm northwest of town before moving to Stromsburg two years ago. Survived by husband Charles F. Johnson and daughter Mrs. Eugene Sundburg of Stromsburg, brother August Johnson of Swede Home, and a sister in California. Interment in Swede Home cemetery.

Osceola Teams Split Varsity and JV Games with Schuyler
Osceola boys struggled to score as Schuyler led most of the game and won 15 to 36. The second team lost 19 to 29. Osceola grade team beat Silver Creek 14 to 13 in the Goldenrod Conference final at Silver Creek, Ampster scoring 10 and Danskin receiving the gold trophy. Farm Bureau Seeks 1937 Membership Surge
In a special meeting last Monday the county aims to enroll 300 farmers in county state and national Farm Bureau federations for 1937. Directors say state and national legislation needs support and Polk County must do its part. Mrs. Robert McMeekin Shelby director reported district meetings with V Vaniman of the national federation. Nebraska’s 1937 goal is 18 000 members, up from about 10 000 in 1936.
