Osceola Schools Offer Highway Safety Course
Last Wednesday at the Muse Theatre Lieutenant Schirie of the Nebraska Highway Safety Patrol praised the Super intendent and Board of Education for adding a Highway Safety Driving course to the high school curriculum. The course, adopted from the National Safety Council and the Nebraska Highway Safety Patrol, began at the start of the second semester with a state approved manual.

Sister of local man passes away in Boston
The only sister of Rev. Albert C. Monkman died suddenly in Boston on Friday. She leaves her husband Dr. L. Harold DeWolf, two children Donald and Elaine, her Barrie Ontario parents, and two brothers Rev. Arthur Monkman of Gresham Nebraska and Rev. Albert C. Monkman of Osceola. Funeral and interment were in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery Tuesday, conducted by Dr. Walter Aitkin of St. Paul Methodist Church.

Former Osceola Resident Hattie Matson Dies in York
Mrs. Hattie Matson 56 former Osceola resident died at home in York after several weeks illness. Born in Osceola in 1882 she lived at Clarks before moving to York. Survived by sons Glen Stromsburg Grant North Platte Mervin at home, daughter Pearl at home, sister Mrs. Lindblade Stromsburg. Husband Mr. Matson died in 1923. Funeral held Thursday afternoon with burial in Swede Home Cemetery.

Glenn Smith had major surgery for appendicitis at the Osceola hospital Saturday. Joe Daker was released from the hospital on Monday. Dr. Hickens of Omaha performed major surgery on Mrs. W. E. Wilcox on Wednesday morning. Mrs. Rex Peterson and her baby son left the hospital and returned home Saturday.
