Plan to Pave Kimmel Street Introduced at Council
Osceola City Council at February meeting approved bills and financials before street superintendent Leroy Gerrard outlined a one and six year road plan. Kimmel Street from Central to Hoosier would be hard surfaced with curb and guttering to qualify for state funds, with curb and gutter districts forming as a first step.

4-H Leader Idea Days Feature Roger Welsch Bicentennial Plans
Polk County 4-H leaders will hear Nebraska folklorist Roger Welsch discuss Bicentennial ideas and how 4-H can participate. Welsch, a University of Nebraska folklore instructor and author, will guide leaders on observing the Bicentennial with programs like community pride, music contests, ethnic costume projects, and histories. Follow up Learnshops will cover demonstrations talks visual aids judging and exchange trips.

Burdette A. Flodman represents Polk County on the Region V Community Mental Health Governing Board. By laws for the Region V Human Services Program were adopted in Lincoln on February 3. The 16 county program coordinates mental health and retardation services through the joint board. Saunders County voted against forming Region V Human Services. Otoe Saline and Thayer counties had no representation. The executive committee may assume assets and liabilities of Region V Mental Retardation Services on March 1, 1975. County appointees will keep their posts on the new Region V Governing Board.

Volunteers Needed For Heart Sunday In Osceola
Heart Sunday in Osceola on February 16 calls for volunteers to meet at the Methodist Church at 1 30 p.m. Co chairwoman Mrs Bob Carey says many helpers are needed to canvass the community and deliver donation envelopes to homes. Donations may be given as memorials and Heart Fund dollars support heart projects.

The Bulldog grapplers captured five gold medals and finished second in a regional tournament hosting Stromsburg Palmer Clarks St. Edward and Osceola. McMeekin Urban Coffin Augustine Johnson Mangelsen and Runquist led with multiple wins while Osceola did not compete. The team advances to District C-2 at Southeast Community College with Milford David City Friend North Bend Raymond Central Valley Weeping Water also competing.

Obituary Notices From Rock Island And David City
Mrs. Jesse Stodghill of Rock Island Illinois died February 1 at age 70 after hospitalization since January. Services were held February 4 in Rock Island. Survivors include her husband brothers Tillman Joy Osceola and Paul Joy Rock Island sisters Velma McCormick Baldwin Park California and Mildred Wickberg Tucson Arizona and several grandchildren. Mr and Mrs Tillman Joy with Mrs Milo Cochran and Louise of Ralston attended the service. Services were held Wednesday morning in David City for Mrs Mary Bruner who died Sunday. Mrs Bruner is sister of Tommy Hofbauer and Mrs Ray Svoboda formerly of Osceola and aunt of Mrs Charles Kucera and Norman Hofbauer. The Kuceras and Norman Hofbauers attended the funeral.

Thirteen members met at Osceola City Hall for a Lions Club session on Monday February 10. President Charles Roberts welcomed new member Don Sigler and Arthur Senkbeil will build bird feeders as a fund raising project while Lee Draeger leads sales. Members urged to attend the zone meeting in Fullerton and a Wednesday hearing at the Omaha Immigration Office on Dr Nossa's visa extension.

Osceola Bulldogs Defeat Polk 72 56 For Third Straight Win
Osceola High School beat Polk 72 to 56 to avenge an earlier loss and extend their winning streak to three. Chet Graham scored eight in the first quarter as Osceola surged ahead 40 31 at halftime with key contributions from the Nelsons and Graham. Dana Anderson left the game for Polk after an injury and the Bulldogs maintained control through the second half.
