New State Rule Demands Load Capacity Plates on Farm Trucks
State patrol Captain R F Weller announced a March deadline for farm and local trucks with L and F licenses to display load capacity on license plates rather than advertised truck capacity. Overloads become arrestable after March first. plates must reflect allowed load. Fees rise with weight, $6 for up to two tons and $4 for each extra ton, with a minimum $4 fee for loads up to 112 tons. Notice goes to county treasurers and neighboring states.

Last Rites for Former Osceola Resident Mary Sipherd
Mary Martha Armstrong Sipherd born July 23 1848 on a Pennsylvania farm near Gettysburg moved with her family to Galesburg Illinois and later married John Webb Sipherd. She died at her grandson Morris Sipherd's home in Salt Lake City Utah after living in Hebron and Osceola Nebraska and California. Funeral services were held at Kepner Mortuary Osceola with Rev Albert Monkman officiating and interment in Osceola Cemetery.

Former residents killed in California trailer fire
A California trailer fire on January 25 killed two Gilbert children aged three and four. The flames followed a gasoline spill under a heating stove. Mrs. Gilbert suffered severe burns and was hospitalized while a baby survived. Clarence Gilbert’s relatives in Lindsay and in this community learned of the tragedy by letter this week.
