The Valley column reports families visiting, illness cases, and daily work. Carrie Morys suffers tonsillitis at home while Ambrose Gabriel returns from South Dakota after a death in the family. George Miller endures a severe thumb injury while shelling corn. Other residents, including Nels Anderson, Hubert Seberger, Lew Miller, and Rev. Welk, appear in weekend visits and routine events as weather allows much hauling activity.
Anthony Schott returned to his Polk County farm after a Modern Woodmen meeting when his Ford sedan slid into a deep ditch. He walked home leaving the frozen car overnight as bitter cold steamed from the radiator. Snow tracks show he narrowly missed a culvert edge by about two inches.
Miss Naomi Pike, who has been visiting relatives in Denver and Wheatland for several months, arrived home last Thursday. She was accompanied by M. A. Pike of Wheatland, who will visit with his parents Mr and Mrs W C Pike Sr.
Osceola’s newest industry, the Osceola Hatchery, is now open with proprietor Smupert J Swanson reporting rapid setup. Incubators and equipment will be operational by next week, capacity listed at 10 800 eyes, and Swanson already has numerous orders from across the state and locally. An electric sign marks the Bryant building basement home of the hatchery.
The High Prairie boys defeated Hordville 8 to 4 at the Fredricksen barn on Wednesday night. The High Prairie girls first team beat the second team 14 to 4. A large crowd attended despite the weather. The High Prairie girls second team defeated the Victor girls 4 to 2, and the High Prairie boys beat the Victor boys 15 to 11 after an 11 all tie.
Mrs Sarah Graham Buchholz died Monday January 31 1927 at age 72 at her daughter’s home in Silver Creek Polk County. She moved to Silver Creek 15 years ago and leaves seven children Mrs Ben Farris Walter Buchholz of Osceola Mrs Clara Lohr Mrs Mary Lowman Mrs Cecil Sprague William Buchholz all of Silver Creek and Mrs Neta Whithed of Columbus. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Methodist Church Silver Creek and burial followed in Silver Creek Cemetery.
On February 19 Osceola hosts Ford Day under Carson Auto Co with a free afternoon Picture Show at the Auditorium showing Ford activities on the screen. A comedy is promised and local merchants plan special bargains to attract visitors.
Beulah Buchta and relatives visited Sunday. Epworth League banquet held at M B Church in Silver Creek Friday evening. Mrs George Horst and Ray hosted supper for Mrs Mina Buchta Sunday. Harve McCormick hosted Sunday dinner. Fern Dake visited Glady s Adcock in Silver Creek and attended the Epworth convention at the M I Church. Hazel Hastings returned from Casper and Madeline Snyder came home from Pennsylvania. Mother Buchholz died in Silver Creek. George Lind returned from Denver. Lawrence Meacham and wife visited Columbus.
Miss Mildred Johnson spent Saturday in Lincoln. Mrs. Austin Lyons of Stromsburg visited Osceola briefly yesterday. Mrs. O. P. Jones came from Frewant for a visit at the Victor Fernandez home. Y. A. Johnson was in the western part of the state last week on business matters.

In Platte County the former county clerk was bound over to district court on a charge of missing $3 from accounts. Also filed against the city water commissioner at Columbus is a charge alleging he took $5000 of city funds.
Miss Mildred Graham daughter of N S Graham Stromsburg and Carl Teegerstrom son of A Teegerstrom Hackberry precinct were married at the Methodist parsonage in Stromsburg today by Rev Pruitt. They will reside in Omaha. The union unites two respected families with many well wishers.
A busy Shelby scene features farmers at a free film, Ladies Guild gathering hosted by Mrs A L Scholzer, and Hastert driving to Lincoln for a hardware dealers convention. News of births includes Irene Dorothy to Mr and Mrs W H Kelley. Class of 1925 plans a Lincoln trip for Friday’s wedding of Schafer and Oberlies in Lincoln.
Seventh and eighth graders study for county exams and report a Friday morning program led by Miss Burke and Miss Johnson in a radio station format. They sang whistled and read jokes with a mouth harp and laughing contest amid compliments.
Osceola Woman's Club and the Legion Auxiliary sponsor a patriotic meeting at the Methodist Church on Sunday February 13 at 2 30 p m to commemorate Lincoln and Washington birthdays. Program includes organ and vocal solos a high school orchestra and an address by Rev Kron.
Friends and relatives gathered at J L Carter home Sunday including Clayton Beebe Knaiph Sterrup Wisworth and families and Mr Wisworth's father from Litchfield Neb. Visitors Clayton Hisworth from Litchfield is visiting Kal Musworth. Local outings included Perry Knight home Osceola guests Marion Treadway Allen Barr Ardus Wright and Henry Jolngon families. John Simonsen hosts. corn shelling and husking comments. Hasselback treated for nervous attack. Hewitt boys helped with grandfather Heckmann’s corn. Herry Johnson family attended Osceola show.
Pleasant Corner reports social visits as Mr. and Mrs. Louie Johnston and family spent Sunday with Harry Carmel. The Tschauners hosted guests including F W Burke Nels Anderson Vivian Alfred Swanson Mildred Johnson Oscar and Emma Alderson. Mrs W J Herrmann visited Osceola. Walter Watts and baby joined Chester Johnson and son at the Mertink home.
The Junior Class of High Prairie High School will present a play at Swede Home Hall on February 15 and at the High School Auditorium in Clarks on February 17. Admission is 20 and 40 cents. All shows start promptly at 8 o'clock.
