Oregon Man Injured In Car Truck Mishap
Virgil E. Deal of Portland Oregon was injured Monday evening when his car collided with a truck driven by Ray Dorothy of Pleasanton Nebraska four miles east of Shelby on Highway 30A. Sheriff Willard Cornell said Deal, the car’s lone occupant, fell asleep at the wheel. Dorothy and his wife escaped with bruises. The Oregon car was totally demolished and the truck badly damaged.

A five day District Court trial ended with a 12 member jury delivering a verdict in favor of Betty Lou Bresley of Bellvue Nebraska. Snow Blankets Area With Week of Light Falls
Several light snowfalls spread over the past week. Two inches on Tuesday January 24 brought the ground to seven inches, with a four inch end-week total after Friday. Hazardous roads appeared with melting snow and sleet, then sun and warm temps cleared roads until a two inch snowfall Tuesday night slowed traffic. Osceola official Harold Klingman notes nine inches of snow for January with about 0.2 inches of moisture.

The Cheerie Sisters 4-H Club met January 20 at Carol Lee Dawes home. Members finished Let's Sew projects and modeled aprons kitchen towels and hot pads. Next project is Let's Make a Skirt and Blouse. The Gustavus Choir from St. Peter Minnesota will give a concert in Stromsburg High School Auditorium at 8:00 pm on Tuesday February 14 under Salem Lutheran Church supervision.
