Soldier Leonard Lisko Killed in Belgium in 1945
Mr and Mrs John Sisko of Osceola learn their son Leonard Theodore Lisko was killed in action with American forces in Belgium on January 4 1945. Born April 27 1915 he joined the service in August 1941 and served overseas since October last year. He farmed with his father before the service and belonged to St Marys Catholic Church. Surviving are his parents two brothers and six sisters.

Ray J. McBeth of Shelby becomes the third Polk County AAA committee member replacing John Staroscik who was named by the State AAA as former fieldman for nine counties. Farmers urged to file by February 15 for 1944 payments, first checks totaling 43 arriving last week. Closing date February 28 for flaky feed payments for November and December cream and milk checks. Pioneer Lady Answers Final Summons in Polk County
Frances Walker Marker Richards, born May 27, 1857 near Springville Wisconsin, died January 24 1945 in Pasadena California at 87.7. She married Thomas Dean Richards March 17 1875 and moved with her family to Polk County Nebraska in 1876. Survived by four children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was active in Wesley Chapel Church and died after a long life of pioneer work. Funeral was January 30 at Osceola Methodist Church. Also reports a Polk County piled corn moisture crisis with 70 percent under 20.6 percent and 30 percent from 20.5 to 27 percent, urging drying or cribs before spring.
