Bulldogs fall hard to Wolbach in 42 17 meet

The Bulldogs were defeated 42 to 17 as Wolbach dominated with three pins two forfeits a 4 point decision and two 3 point decisions while Illness sidelined several OHS grapplers including Norm Larson not competing and Duane Hahn returning after illness.

IRS shifts Nebraska filings to Ogden Utah service center

Nebraska taxpayers should mail 1971 individual income tax returns to the Ogden Utah Regional Service Center under the directions of Richard P. Vinal. Form 1040 with Schedules C and F will go to Ogden while other business returns stay with the Kansas City Center for now. All prior year materials will also be handled in Ogden as part of the service center plan to maintain fast responsive service.

Stromsburg to Host State Farm Meeting January 6

Firemen Answer Christmas Eve Car Fire in Osceola

Osceola volunteers rushed to Curt Gulbrandson home on Christmas Eve as a car engine fire was extinguished. The blaze remained confined to the engine area causing only light damage.

Set-aside meetings scheduled in Polk County for 1972 program

Bernie Gissler presented Osceola history to the Lions Club at the noon gathering. During the business session the group discussed the REAP handbook and eyeglasses for another child.

Nebraska Game and Parks Rules Require Captive Wild Animal Permits

The commission requires permits for residents holding wild birds or animals in captivity. People with 50 or more must obtain a game farm permit costing 10 dollars annually, while those with fewer than 50 need a pet and game farmer's permit. The rule covers unprotected species like raccoons coyotes and owls to curb inhumane conditions and track wildlife in captivity.

Nebraska predicts population decline in Polk County region

A Nebraska Department of Economic Development study projects a two percent regional population decrease over the next two decades in Fillmore Polk and York Counties with York urban growth over 24 percent while rural areas fall 21 percent.
