Precinct Committeemen Elected For 1938 Soil Program

Farmers met to discuss farm prices and trends for 1938 led by Howard L. Peterson new Polk county agricultural agent. Precinct chairmen were named for Pleasant Home Hackberry Osceola Canada Island Clear Creek Valley Platte Stromsburg and Swanson listed with four other members per precinct. County directors to elect soil conservation chairman and two more members January 4 to guide next year’s program.

Hospital Notes Reflect Middle Era Surgical Cases

Dick Mills underwent appendicitis surgery on Friday December 24 by Dr. H S Eklund and Dr Al Liband. Virgil and Veil Anderson had tonsils removed on Monday December 27 by Dr H S Eklund. George Gulbrandson Jr of Gresham had tonsil removal Tuesday by Dr H S Eklund. Miss Louella Crew was admitted last Friday for medical care under Dr Alliband. Mrs Tom Kries of Stromsburg was a hospital patient for several days under Dr Alliband. Miss Maxine Dunn was released Friday after an appendicitis operation.

Stromsburg Mourns Death of Mrs Eric Ericson at 78

Mrs. Ericson died at Osceola hospital after years of ill health. Age 78, born in Illinois, she moved to Polk County over fifty five years ago with her husband and children. Funeral services were held at the Stromsburg Baptist Church, with interment in the family lot. Survived by eleven children, nine sons and two daughters, plus relatives in Colorado, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Nebraska. The Christmas program at Stromsburg Baptist Church drew about 400 attendees and will be repeated due to seating limits.
