Larry Miley led the varsity with 21 points while Dinges notched eight and eight rebounds in the opening period and Cotter added late free throws after an eye injury.

61 Motor Vehicle License On Sale January 3
Polk County motorists may start purchasing 1961 license stickers on January 3. The new adhesive back removes the wetting step and sticks to the lower right corner of the plate. Motorcycles and Farm trailers receive new 3x8 inch plates. Fees remain the same as last year, eight dollars for autos with a sliding scale for trucks. Mail orders require the current registration and 1961 assessment notice to County Treasurer Carleton Anderson, Osceola, Nebraska. Anderson reports 5820 motor vehicles registered in 1960.

Extension News reports the Lone Star Project Club held a December 13 luncheon at Mrs. Marvin Luch singer's home. Members sang a Christmas Carol, elected Mrs Clyde Oppliger as news reporter, and named Mrs Lee MHegi and Mrs Harry Opplinger to the card committee. The Polk County Historical Society met at Mrs. Curtis Flodman’s Stromsburg home. Antiques were shown from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. The president Mrs. Lloyd Hahn led the business meeting and final reading of the Constitution and by laws. John Falk named Museum chairman. A. E. Bodine of Stromsburg reports county purchases of Series E and H savings bonds totaled 25,794 in November, lifting the year to 514,063 and 68.1 percent of the county goal. December gift buying and a 3 percent rate boost are expected to lift sales. Statewide November sales reached 6,153,706 with Nebraska at 79,731,525 and 74.3 percent of the state goal.
